I bought this book on the basis that it sounded interesting. It was utter tripe. Had I picked it up in a book shop and flicked through it, I would have returned it to the shelves with a snort of derision.
Having paid for it, I felt compelled to read it to the bitter end notwithstanding that the first few chapters had me groaning with boredom. Snoresville. The rest of the book is equally dull.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Not as lightweight as it looks
When I received this book and looked at the cover I thought it was going to be a piece of lightweight froth. I was pleasantly surprised, however, to find an intelligent and amusing deconstruction by the author of that seemingly unique and elusive nature of the French woman. There are generalisations and it has to be read for fun rather than as a 'how to', but I did enjoy it and its emphasis on common sense and promotion of the world and human nature as it is and not as we would all like it to be.
